Spezieller Mauerseglerschutz

Für Mauersegler kann man Nistkästen und Nisthilfen an und in Häusern in mindestens 4 m Höhe anbringen. Bei der Sanierung von Burg- und Stadtmauern können gemauerte Nistnischen mit Gefälle zur Außenwand bzw. Regenwasserablauf eingebaut werden.

Als Ersatzmaßnahme sind auch Mauerseglerhäuser (“Mauerseglerlaternen”) möglich. Sie sollten Brutkammern von mind. 20 x 20 x 40 cm (H X T X B) Größe haben. 2007 wurde von AGROFOR ein Artenschutzhaus (für Mauersegler, Stare, Haussperlinge und Fledermäuse) in Gifhorn aufgestellt, 2008 in München-Riem ein Mauerseglerhaus als Ersatzbrutstätten für die Nester in der Dachkonstruktion der Tribüne der Olympia-Reitanlage.

Die Besitzer der Häuser auf den Fotos habe hinter der Giebelwand Mauerseglerkästen montiert, in die sie Gipsplatten mit Nestmulden (ca. 11 cm Durchmesser; Foto rechts) eingelegt haben. Die Einfluglöcher haben 5 cm Durchmesser. Solche Nisthilfen für Mauersegler (B x L x H: ca. 20 x 20 x 16 cm) können auch außen am Haus angebracht werden.
